Polyglance Privacy Policy
Polyglance Privacy Policy
Effective date: 18 July 2026
Polyglance is a macOS translation lens created by Seamus Maguire. Your privacy is simple: Polyglance does not collect, sell, share, or transmit your personal data.
Screen content
Polyglance asks for macOS Screen Recording permission so it can read the small area beneath its floating lens. That image is processed on your Mac using Apple’s ScreenCaptureKit and Vision frameworks. Screen images and recognised text are not uploaded, shared, or saved by Polyglance.
Translation
Translation is performed using Apple’s Translation framework. macOS may download language resources managed by Apple. Polyglance does not operate a translation server and does not receive your screen content.
Data stored on your Mac
Polyglance stores your preferences, such as lens colour, transparency, languages, size, and position, on your Mac. It may also keep a local translation cache so repeated text appears more quickly. This information stays on your device and can be removed by deleting Polyglance and its local app data.
Analytics, accounts, and advertising
Polyglance has no user accounts, advertising, third-party analytics, or tracking technologies. The app does not collect contact information, identifiers, usage data, diagnostics, purchases, location, or browsing history.
Children’s privacy
Polyglance does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
