Polyglance Support

Polyglance is a floating translation lens for macOS. Move it over text, pause briefly, and the translation appears in place.

Getting started

  1. Open Polyglance and allow Screen Recording when macOS asks.
  2. If prompted, quit and reopen Polyglance after granting permission.
  3. Move the lens over text and hold it still for a moment.
  4. Use the menu-bar magnifying-glass icon to open Settings, pause translation, or reopen the Getting Started guide.

Useful controls

  • Show or hide the lens: press Option–Command–L (⌥⌘L).
  • Move: drag the lens. With click-through enabled, drag the small bar at the top.
  • Resize: drag the handle in the lower-right corner.
  • Copy: turn click-through off, then click translated text.
  • Languages: use Auto-detect or choose a source language for improved recognition. The target defaults to your Mac’s language.
  • Appearance: choose Crystal, Midnight, Ocean, Emerald, Rose, or Amber, then adjust transparency.

If translation does not appear

  • Confirm Polyglance is enabled in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording.
  • Quit and reopen the app after changing that permission.
  • Pause the lens over clear, reasonably sized text.
  • Choose the source language manually if Auto-detect is uncertain.
  • Allow macOS to download the required Apple language resources if prompted.

Privacy

Screen reading, text recognition, and translation are handled on your Mac. Polyglance does not collect or transmit your screen content. Read the Polyglance Privacy Policy.
